Hair Highlights in Dubai
Bright, dimensional colour with a toner finished into every service, painted and foiled by senior colourists in a private villa.
Book Your HighlightsHow much are highlights in Dubai? At Lioness Beauty Salon on Al Wasl Road, half head highlights are AED 400, and full head highlights are AED 460 for short hair, AED 690 for medium, and AED 1040 for long. A toner is included in every price. Half head takes around 1 hour 15 to 1 hour 45, and full head usually runs two to three hours depending on length.
Brightness that suits Dubai
Highlights are still the most reliable way to lift your colour, add dimension, and frame your face. Fine sections of hair are lightened and toned so the result reads bright and natural rather than flat. Done well, highlights catch the light beautifully and make your whole colour look more expensive.
What separates a good highlight from a cheap one is the toner. Lightening on its own can leave hair looking yellow or orange, especially in our sun. The toner is what neutralises that and gives you the clean, polished shade you actually asked for. At Lioness it is built into every highlight service, never added as a surprise at the end.

Check AvailabilityWhich type of highlights is right for you
Highlights is a family of techniques, not one look. Here is what each one does so you can walk in knowing exactly what to ask for.

Full head highlights
Foils worked through the entire head for maximum brightness and a fully refreshed colour. Best when you want a real change.

Half head highlights
Foils on top and around the face where the light hits most. Less time, lower cost, and a brighter finish where it shows.

Babylights
Very fine, delicate highlights that mimic the way hair naturally lightens in the sun. Subtle, expensive looking, and low maintenance.

Money piece
Brighter pieces around the front to frame and lift your face. A small change that makes a big difference in photos.
Want something softer and more grown out instead of foiled brightness? Our hand-painted balayage might suit you better. Not sure? The consultation sorts it out in minutes.
Highlights on dark and black hair
Here is what most salon pages will not tell you: highlights work beautifully on dark, black, and deeper Asian and Arab hair, but the shade choice matters more. The goal is warmth and dimension without bleaching everything out or going brassy.
On dark hair, warm tones like caramel and honey give that rich, sun-touched look and grow out softly. If you prefer something cooler and less golden, ash brown is the one. Going very light from a deep base can take more than one session, and we will always tell you that honestly at the consultation rather than over-promising and damaging your hair to get there in one go.

Highlights, balayage, or ombre?
The three get mixed up constantly. The quick version:
| Service | Best for | Maintenance |
|---|---|---|
| Highlights | All over brightness and lift | Touch up every 6 to 10 weeks |
| Balayage | Soft, natural, grown out colour | Every 3 to 4 months |
| Ombre | A bolder dark to light fade | Every 3 to 4 months |
If you love bright, even colour and do not mind a regular touch up, highlights are perfect. If you want lower maintenance, read our balayage guide and compare.
How long highlights last and how to keep them
Highlights themselves do not fade, but your roots grow and the toner softens over time. Most women book a touch up every 6 to 10 weeks depending on how fast their hair grows and how bright they like to stay. Babylights and half head highlights stretch further because the regrowth is less obvious.
To keep your colour clean between visits, use a sulphate-free shampoo, add a purple shampoo once a week if you are blonde to stop any yellow creeping back, and protect your hair from heat and chlorine. Dubai sun and pool water are the two things that pull colour brassy fastest, so rinse with fresh water before swimming and wear a hat on long beach days. A deep conditioning or keratin treatment keeps lightened hair soft and glossy rather than dry.
What to expect on the day
You start with a consultation and, if it is your first colour with us, a patch check. Then the foils go in, the colour develops, your hair is washed, toned to perfect the shade, and blow dried so you leave with the finished result. Come with clean, dry hair and leave the afternoon free so nothing feels rushed. Many clients add a fresh cut so the new colour sits on a clean shape.

Highlights FAQ
How much do highlights cost in Dubai?
At Lioness, half head highlights are AED 400 and full head highlights are AED 460 for short hair, AED 690 for medium, and AED 1040 for long. A toner is included in every price, so the shade you see is the shade you pay for, with nothing added at the end.
What is the difference between full head and half head highlights?
Full head highlights are foiled through the entire head for all over brightness. Half head highlights focus on the top and the pieces around your face where the light hits most. Half head is quicker and more affordable and is perfect if you want brightness where it shows without a full change.
How long do highlights take?
Half head highlights take around 1 hour 15 to 1 hour 45. Full head highlights usually take two to three hours depending on your length and how light you are going. We never rush colour, so the time is what protects the result.
Can I get highlights on dark or black hair?
Yes. Dark and black hair take highlights beautifully, especially in warm tones like caramel and honey or cooler ash brown. Going very light from a deep base can need more than one session, and we will explain that honestly during your consultation so we never compromise the health of your hair.
What is the difference between highlights and balayage?
Highlights are foiled for brighter, more even lift and need a touch up every six to ten weeks. Balayage is hand-painted for a softer, more natural finish that grows out without a harsh line, so you can wait three to four months. Both are great, it just depends on the look and the upkeep you want.
Do highlights damage hair?
Highlights involve lightening, so some care is needed, but done correctly with quality product and a toner the result stays healthy and glossy. We recommend a deep conditioning or keratin treatment to keep lightened hair soft, and we will never over-process your hair to rush a result.
How often should I get my highlights touched up?
Most women book every six to ten weeks, depending on how fast their hair grows and how bright they like to stay. Babylights and half head highlights stretch further because the regrowth is softer and less noticeable.
